John S Smith Esquire

John has been practicing law since 1990. His specialties include Business Law, Construction litigation, Military and Family Law, Criminal defense, immigration, personal injury, bankruptcy, estates and estate planning, as well as Real Estate. John is a member of the Maryland Bar, DC Bar, US District Court for Maryland.

He achieved his Juris Doctorate from the University of Baltimore School of Law and received his Bachelor’s of Arts Degree from Saint Bernardine of Siena College. Prior to his law career, John was Deputy Chief for the War Plans Division, Department of the Army. He provided counsel to the Army Chief of Staff, Joint Chiefs of Staff, Secretary of Defense, National Security Advisor and President of the United States. During his service to our Country, he wrote the war plan for Operation Desert Shield.

As a retired United States Army Ranger, Lieutenant Colonel, and a decorated war veteran with military experience spanning back to 1968, John has received the distinguished Award of Purple Heart, Vietnamese Cross of Gallantry, Meritorious Service Medal, Legion of Merit Award, among others.

John is also a Veterans of Foreign Wars lifetime member. John is a Director for the Bayanihan Filipino-American Alliance of Maryland, President and Chairman of the Filipino Counsel of the Archdiocese of Baltimore, Eucharistic Minister for St. Elizabeth Anne Seton, Maryland Catholic Parish. John enjoys ballroom dancing and is a Basketball Coach for Fort Meade.
